Cable Chain Selection Guide

Principles for Selecting Cable Chain

When selecting a cable chain, consider the following:

• Inner Height: Take the height of the thickest internally installed cable, oil pipe, gas pipe, or water pipe as the reference height, adding at least 10% of the space height as the inner height (HI). If overlapping, use the overlapped height as the actual height.


• Inner Width: Calculate the sum of the outside diameters of the thicker cables, oil pipes, gas pipes, or water pipes as the reference for the inner width, leaving at least 10% of the space as a margin.


• Radius of a Bend: Use the largest radius of a bend of a cable, oil pipe, gas pipe, or water pipe as a reference value, leaving 10% of the space as a margin.

Instruction Principles for Internally Laid Cables, Oil Pipes, Water Pipes, or Gas Pipes

Follow these guidelines for internally laid cables and pipes:

• Reserve 15% of the space as a margin to allow for free movement without stressing the drag chains.


• Separate cables with significantly different diameters and balance weight evenly. Use spacers if needed.


• For high-speed or high-frequency operations, horizontally laid cables should not overlap. Use spacers when laying multiple cables, gas pipes, or oil pipes together.
